NEPTUNE, THE MASTER OF THE SEAS

Neptune, another of the modern planets, was discovered in 1846. After some consideration, astrologers decided that its influences were somewhat watery and gave it ruler ship over the highly emotional Pisces. In mythology, Neptune was the Roman god of the oceans, lakes, and rivers, his Greek equivalent was Poseidon, who later took the form of a horse so he could romance Ceres, Demeter in Greek mythology, the Roman goodness of agriculture, who was herself a horse at the time.
The planet Neptune in astrology relates to all that is connected with the sea, water, dissolving, sapping the strength or substance of a thing, illusion, deception and escapism. In a sense, the watery film which Neptune casts over anything it touches causes difficulty in perceiving clearly the real nature of the thing. Those who have Neptune or its sign Pisces prominent in their charts will invariably find a difficulty in perceiving clearly some aspect of themselves. The sign which holds Neptune at the time of birth does not always have great significance for the individual. This is due to the slowness with which Neptune traverses the signs. In the present, all those, all those living will have Neptune in Cancer, Leo, Virgo, Libra, Scorpio or Sagittarius. The positions in these signs will be of general importance in the sense of pointing out an area in which some form of self-deception might occur. However, care must be taken in determining whether the planet is strongly afflicted by aspect, for if is not, then it is not possible to say whether the individual will definitely experience the difficulty suggested by Neptune in the particular sign.
Of greater importance is the matter of aspects to other planets. Like Uranus, Neptune tends to be more significant in its aspects to the inner planets than in its aspects to the outer ones, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Pluto.
